Learning Nexus (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information for our elementary, middle, and high school educational services.

1. Information We Collect

We limit the collection of personal information to only what is necessary to provide our educational services.

  • Parent/Guardian Information: We collect names and email addresses of parents or legal guardians for registration, billing, and communication.
  • Student Information: We collect student names and ages only. We do not collect personal email addresses directly from students.
  • Health and Safety Information: For in-person labs, we collect relevant medical or allergy information to ensure student safety.
  • Automatic Data: Our website may automatically collect technical data such as IP addresses and cookies to improve user experience.

2. COPPA Compliance (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)

Because we serve students under the age of 13, we comply with COPPA requirements:

  • Verifiable Parental Consent: Learning Nexus does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without first obtaining verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian.
  • Limited Collection: We only collect the minimal amount of information from children needed to participate in our educational activities.
  • Parental Access: At any time, a parent or legal guardian may:
  • Review the personal information collected about their child.
  • Direct us to delete the child’s information and refuse to permit further collection or use of that information.

To provide a high-quality learning environment and manage our business, we utilize trusted third-party platforms:

  • Live Sessions: We use Zoom, Google Meet, or other industry-standard video conferencing platforms as appropriate.
  • Payments: Financial transactions are processed securely via Stripe, PayPal, or other secure payment processors.
  • Communications: We use Mailchimp or other email marketing and communication platforms as appropriate for newsletters and program updates.

4. Student Privacy and Interaction

  • Online Visibility: During live online classes, students are identified only by screen names or first names to protect their full identity from other participants. We may utilize other privacy-enhancing features as appropriate for the age group.
  • No Recording: We do not record live online sessions to protect the privacy of participating minors.

5. Marketing and Image Release

  • Photos and Media: We may take photos or screenshots of “hands-on” projects and live classes for use on our website or social media.
